Easter time! A wonderful time to celebrate God’s love for us that shows in so many precious ways! The resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Spring has sprung. New baby animals and Easter flowers are popping up everywhere. Children in their adorable Easter outfits heading for church with parents and grandparents. It’s a new and joyous season indeed!
Easter gift baskets for children have become synonymous with the holiday. Filled with eggs, toys, and candy of all types, as well as hopefully a book or two about the real meaning of Easter, they delight the hearts of little ones everywhere.
It can also be fun to think outside the box for Easter, or should I say, outside the basket?
A fun way to teach children about the true meaning of Easter is to help them learn to give at Easter at least as much as they get. It’s not necessarily the traditional time to think of gifts, and yet it can be a wonderful way to build a child’s character at the same time you minister to a grandparent’s heart.
You and your child could have a great time together preparing Easter gift baskets for grandma and grandpa. Most grandparents love flowers! In addition to the traditional candy, how about a vase with Easter Flowers like lilies or tulips? A devotional book full of Bible verses about joy and a music CD with the kind of praise music or hymns that they like would be great gifts for grandparents.
Think how wonderful your child will feel when his grandparents arrive with a Easter baskets full of goodies for him and he has Easter baskets for each of them as well. And think what a great lesson he will be learning in such a fun way.
