Grandma Gifts of Time Well Used

One of my grandma gifts is the gift of time. I am blessed to be able to spend a lot of time with some of my grandkids who live nearby. I love the time I spend with them, but I also love to use that time wisely. I like to look for ways to teach them while we are also busy having fun.

I have CDs in my car with fun multiplication songs. While these are primarily geared for the older grandkids, I’ve found that the younger ones (5-6 year old) are enjoying them as well.  Hopefully they are also getting a head start on learning their times tables.

I also keep plenty of CDs of Bible stories and songs in the car. We all love singing the songs and at the same time I know they are growing spiritually which I especially love!

Every time we are together for nap or bedtime, I strive to make sure I read to them. We always try to read two stories and at least one is always a Bible story. Reading to kids is one of the best ways to help them learn to read on their own.

These ideas are small, but when used often they will make a large positive impact on kids – both educationally and spiritually. Knowing that is one of the best grandma gifts around!
